Recent images 'Cavalgada do Mar', 'Camaraderie in the Pit' and 'Tower 91' named Official Selections in the Paris Prix de la Photographie 2011 for Fine Art Photography. 'Cavalgado do Mar' and 'Camaraderie in the Pit' also received honors from the International Photography Awards 2011 for Fine Art Photography. Happy to win Peoples Choice for Music Advertising in Paris Prix de la Photographie PX3. I shot this gritty series at Acit recording studio in Porto Alegre, Brasil. Images were used as CD and website artwork for the rock/blues band Fernando Noronha and Black Souls' 7th album. Paris Prix de la Photographie is Europes largest photo competition with submissions from 84 countries and over 18,000 votes cast for The Peoples Choice Awards. Shot with Canon 1ds mark 2, 2x 580ex speedlites, 2x PocketWizard tt5 and tt1, 2x quantum turbo sc packs, 2x Manfrotto 5001b stands, Adobe Lightroom 3.

Guarda do Embaú is a small fishing village just 30 minutes south of Floripa, Brasil. Rio da Madre can be crossed by a short swim or in a canoe to miles of sandy beaches. The river meets the ocean and a rocky point to create perfect waves for surfing. Pedra do Urubu, a rock with circling vultures, sits high above green hillside with great trails.

Roses for Yemanja

On New Years Night everyone heads to the ocean after midnight with roses or flowers as an offering to Yemanja. The tradition is to step over 7 waves and make 7 wishes and on the last wave toss the flowers into the water. Make sure to always walk to the land backwards, never turning your back to the sea. In loving memory of Deuce

Deuce was part of the family for over 15 years. I picked him up at the ASPCA when he was a kitten. At around age 4 he was hit by a car, losing an eye and his vision, he also broke his jaw and had to be fed through a tube in his stomach (i can still smell that awful cat food gruel we had to blend up). Another time he fell off a balcony and broke the roof of his mouth, later he fell in a ditch. Once he got lost and barely escaped being put to sleep in the pound. We travelled through all the pacific northwest in a van for months and he just chilled the whole time, often on the dashboard. His greatest feat was catching a bird while he was blind. Deuce was always gentle with the kids even when they were rough on him. He loved a good chin to rub up against and sleeping on anyones head, close to their breath. On Christmas Eve he crawled into a warm blanket, fresh from the drier and passed away. He used up far more than 9 lives- we will miss you Deucey. all love
